Soft discrimination is what we see in many organisations and doesn't seem to be being addressed directly. The common examples the author (phil) has seen are:
- X is stupid without considering that X speaks english as a third language and you only speak one. (Soldiers in the ADF).
- X must be good at T since they are in category C. Oh they're not, so ... (Again Soldiers in the ADF, staff, ...)
- X is not assertive enough based on ..., (Staff who happen to be of some group that is perhaps perceived to be not assertive enough, funnily enough they are just as direct as anyone else if you listen. Actually many are probably more direct than balandas IMHO).
All things we need to sort out, some of the solutions I've seen that are great:
- NT man gives a lesson on building a didgeridoo to a bunch of ballandas in language. At the end (manager) blogs says he doesn't know to build a didg, which is the point of the lesson.
- Challenge the people who assert that X is not assertive enough, then ask for examples. See Telectronics.
Anyways enough of this incorrectness, Phil goes back to his hole.
